A special celebration of the state record Sturgeon takes place September 5, 2026, 10 am to 2 pm!

Join us at the first annual Sturgeon Fest!

Sturgeon Fest takes place at the new Sturgeon Park, located at the intersection of STH 35 and Alder Street in beautiful Webster, WI.

The 15 foot sturgeon statue in the park is affectionately named “Stella” after the sculptors granddaughter.

The park has a pavilion with picnic tables, benches, and a selfie area, so it’s ready to host activities including family picnics, outdoor meetings and larger gatherings like this Sturgeon Fest celebration.

Sturgeon Park commemorates the Wisconsin record rod-caught sturgeon.  This 170.5 pound monster was caught on Yellow Lake by John Procai on September 22, 1979. The approximately 100 year old sturgeon was 79 inches long with a 39 inch girth. Mr. Procai released the fish after it was registered.

After a quick greeting, we will hear firsthand from Tim Procai, son of John Procai, the gentleman who caught the record holding fish in 1979. Tim and his brother were both there during the catch and actually helped hold the fish in place so it didn't get away before they waited.

The St. Croix tribe of Chippewa will talk about the importance of the Sturgeon to their tribe, the steps they're taking to enhance the population in local Waters, and in general what they're doing at their fishery and other tribal efforts to keep our lakes and rivers well stocked.

Jason from Sturgeon Nationals will provide a "sturgeon fishing 101" overview for all local fisherman and women who want to know the best tackle, bait, and techniques to catch the big ones!

Maria from Wild Rivers Conservancy will share about the efforts they're taking to help protect our local waters from invasive species, and what we all can do to help with those efforts.

After all the talking is done, we'll enjoy the musical stylings of Terry the one Man band, who will be providing music for the event.

Bouncy house will be set up so that the kids don't get too bored and have something fun to do while the parents are learning everything about how to fish for Sturgeon.

There will be booths to provide more information about the sturgeon and our local waters, as well as, sales of sturgeon hats, sturgeons stuffed animals, other fishing related items and BBQ.

Yellow Lakes and Rivers Association well hold a free raffle for a couple of rod and reel combos, so you're ready to go fishing. Who knows, one of those rods might catch the next big record!

AND: Buff n Brag Car Show is just across the road serving brats, hot dogs, pop, and beer.
